Technical Marketing Writer

All Applicants for the Technical Marketing Writer Position (N-114)

This position is 20 hours a week to start but might become full-time. You must be able to work during normal business hours (8 am to 6 pm), on a regular schedule. We expect that work will be performed primarily in Provo, Utah, with some work in Sandy, Utah.

Are you irritated by grammatical errors and typos in newspapers, signs, and Web sites? If so, then this could be the job for you. To perform this job well, you must be detail-oriented, love language, and have a talent for effective expression. You must have an aptitude for understanding technical information and for logical organization, so that you can explain technology in a clear, compelling way. Strong grammar skills are essential, but you also need to be sensitive to voice and tone. In particular, you must be able to write in a conversational—yet professional—style. You must be a fast, independent worker, someone who can produce publication-quality first drafts and manage a heavy workload with minimal supervision.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Four year degree(s) in English, Technical Writing, Communications, or a related field
• Very strong writing and editing abilities
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• In-depth knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, and a commercial quality HTML editor
• Strong Internet research skills
• Willingness to be edited (without taking it personally)
• Interest in project management (preferred)

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• A journeyman's understanding of computer networking and at least one other technical subject
• In-depth knowledge of RoboHelp

Applicants must be able to work 20 hours a week to start and 40 hours a week if needed. There might be instances when you are required to adjust your schedule to meet a deadline. You must be able to work in Provo, Utah.
